Eve Marie Returns to Llangollen Pavilion for A Night at the Opera
Belgian lyric soprano Eve Marie returned to the stage with North Wales Opera for A Night at the Opera at Llangollen Pavilion, bringing an evening of opera, musical theatre and classical crossover to one of North Wales' best-known performance venues.
Presented by North Wales Opera, the concert featured fully staged scenes from some of opera's most celebrated works, performed by a cast of professional singers and accompanied by pianist and Musical Director Andrew Charity. The production was directed by Anne Williams-King, founder of North Wales Opera, whose vision continues to bring high-quality opera to audiences across North Wales and the surrounding region.
Throughout the evening, Eve Marie performed a selection of lyric soprano repertoire, appearing in scenes as Countess Almaviva from Le nozze di Figaro, Micaëla from Carmen, Violetta from La Traviata and Musetta from La Bohème. The programme also included the classical crossover favourite Time to Say Goodbye, before the company came together for a finale performance of Somewhere from West Side Story.
A special addition to the Llangollen performance was a guest appearance by the ladies of Lleisiau'r Afon, whose operatic chorus added another dimension to the evening and brought extra colour and scale to the programme.
The concert followed the company's successful performance at the historic Llanfyllin Workhouse the previous weekend and continued North Wales Opera's mission of making live opera accessible to new audiences. Blending famous opera scenes with familiar melodies from musical theatre and classical crossover, A Night at the Opera offered something for both seasoned opera lovers and those discovering the genre for the first time.
For Eve Marie, the performance formed part of a busy summer season of engagements across the UK. Based in North Wales, the Belgian lyric soprano continues to build a growing portfolio of opera, concert and classical crossover performances, with upcoming appearances including Proms in the Petals, where she will perform with a 50-piece symphony orchestra.
